Just starting out with a new blog

2018 was an interesting year, to say the least.

My older brother passed away from a major heart attack in February. Then just a few months later, my husband wound up spending most of the rest of the year in and out of the hospital getting an artificial heart, and then needing a heart transplant because of a virus that attacked and killed his heart. The year ended with my husband’s transplant and my parents being evacuated from the California wildfires.

Needless to say, all of this derailed my writing for most of the year.

But 2019 is a new year. I want to get back on track and get back to my writing. I have my own chronic illness to deal with on a daily basis, but I want to get on some sort of schedule that bears some semblance of “normal”.

With this new writing schedule, I will be somewhat of a caregiver for my husband while he recovers from his transplant, as well as dealing with my own health issues. This blog is to chronicle this journey, and maybe hopefully encourage others with chronic illness along the way.

So far, I have managed to publish three short stories this year. Two new ones and one old one that I wrote who knows how long ago.

With my faithful service dog, Amos, at my side, we start this journey. I don’t know what I will be chronicling in this blog, but it will hopefully come together as we go along.

I will end this first entry with a cute picture of Amos:

I'm a writer with a chronic illness (Meniere's Disease) & I'm a caregiver for my husband (heart transplant). I have a service dog too, so be ready for dog pix.
